Position Overview:

The Hygiene Operations Supervisor is accountable for maintaining the cleanliness of production areas, processing equipment, and additional facilities, including office spaces and common areas. As the site authority, the Hygiene Operations Supervisor leads the daily activities of a sanitation team and collaborates with the operations team to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies to guarantee the safety and quality of food production. Responsibilities include documentation, training, inventory management, and inspections. The Hygiene Operations Supervisor will consistently assess, enhance, and implement sanitation standards and programs, ensuring uniformity across all Bel sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage the sanitation program.
    • Direct and engage in cleaning and sanitation tasks.
    • Ensure adherence to proper sanitation methods and practices to meet regulatory and company standards, including GMPs, SDS, HACCP, SQF, and SSOPs.
    • Oversee the sanitation validation program.
  • Supervise cleaning personnel
    • Coordinate labor from operations and sanitation teams to complete scheduled cleaning tasks.
    • Train, orient, supervise, and evaluate sanitation staff on cleaning procedures, chemical usage, and related company policies.
    • Manage the sanitation team, including subcontractors.
    • Monitor and enforce safety practices among employees.
    • Ensure proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.
  • Sanitation Procedures and Documentation
    • Establish and execute cleaning procedures for equipment; maintain and update the master cleaning schedule and sanitation programs.
    • Provide guidance for the environmental monitoring program.
    • Validate cleaning procedures and ensure all records are accurately maintained.
  • Develop and manage the sanitation budget
    • Create and manage the annual sanitation budget and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Project and Equipment Oversight
    • Ensure new equipment meets sanitary design standards and manage validation requirements.
    • Develop sanitation procedures for new equipment and expansions.
    • Collaborate with external vendors to meet company sanitation requirements.
    • Participate in inspections and audits.
    • Lead projects aimed at sanitation improvements.
  • Oversee pest management programs
    • Collaborate with external vendors to manage pest control initiatives, reviewing reports and implementing corrective actions.
  • Propose enhancements to current sanitation capabilities to optimize processes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, or a related field is preferred; however, relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
EXPERIENCE
  • 5-7 years of experience in sanitation.
  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience in a food manufacturing setting.
SKILLS
  • Understanding of CIP and COP sanitation procedures in food manufacturing is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and uphold high performance standards.
  • Leadership skills to inspire a positive team culture.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, safe chemical handling, and relevant regulatory requirements is preferred.
  • Basic math and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, to oversee sanitation activities.
PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods and navigate wet/slippery surfaces.
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
