Position Summary:
The Laser Support Specialist will serve as an instructor for machine operations in both classroom and laboratory settings, focusing on Mitsubishi Laser systems. This role involves traveling to client locations to diagnose and resolve issues related to process efficiency, accuracy, and surface quality across all Laser products offered by MC Machinery Systems. While many challenges can be addressed through technology or programming adjustments, there may be instances requiring machine repairs or alignments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct follow-ups to ensure proper machine installations and alignments.
- Offer customer support via phone for application and operational inquiries.
- Diagnose and resolve machine issues at client sites to enhance the performance of Laser machinery.
- Provide high-power process training to clients in both classroom and field environments.
- Deliver phone support to customers and service teams as required.
- Test system software and perform duplication; conduct proving tests on newly received machine software and create duplicates for inventory.
- Engage in technical writing, including the development of training manuals, workbooks, and sample projects for educational use.
- Prepare expense reports as necessary.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
- Proficient understanding of machining and manufacturing processes.
- Capability to utilize basic hand tools.
- Experience operating computers with Windows operating systems.

Education and Experience:
- Preferred: Associate's or technical degree.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in setting up and operating lasers in a job shop environment.
- Familiarity with circuit repair and NC programming systems such as MasterCam, AutoCAD, and ESPIRIT is advantageous but not mandatory.
Working Conditions:
This position primarily operates indoors but may be exposed to varying weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, and wind. The role involves working near moving mechanical components, with a moderate to loud noise level. Frequent driving and overtime may be required, necessitating a valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements:
This position demands frequent bending, twisting, standing, speaking, and hearing, along with regular kneeling. It requires repetitive hand use, including squeezing, keyboarding, and crouching. Candidates should be able to lift and carry weights ranging from 1-50 pounds, with occasional lifting of heavier items using assistance. Good visual and color acuity are essential for performing job duties effectively.
