SUMMARY

The Quality Control Engineer plays a crucial role in evaluating quality outcomes through the application of statistical techniques and data assessment to foster enhancements aimed at minimizing process variability and the overall cost associated with quality. This position involves conducting internal quality assessments and ensuring that the organization's quality framework is effectively implemented and upheld, guaranteeing that all produced items meet the highest standards of quality. The individual will also investigate, analyze, and propose solutions to address quality challenges linked to manufacturing and distribution operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To excel in this role, the individual must successfully execute the following essential functions:

  • Gather and evaluate data to ascertain whether manufacturing processes are stable and capable of producing items that meet specifications.
  • Utilize independent judgment to recommend solutions for quality-related issues.
  • Lead and/or engage in continuous improvement projects focused on quality enhancement.
  • Analyze quality metrics and suggest modifications to quality protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for productivity challenges and provide recommendations to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Execute quality audits in accordance with ISO 9001 standards and the Quality System of Highline Warren.
  • Ensure the Quality System of Highline Warren is effectively implemented and maintained to guarantee that all manufactured products are of the utmost quality.
  • Develop, implement, and uphold quality procedures and processes in alignment with ISO 9001 and the Quality System of Highline Warren.
  • Collaborate with engineers regarding the quality assurance of newly designed products to identify and resolve issues.
  • Confirm that calibration of quality instruments is conducted appropriately.
  • Maintain an open and transparent working relationship with the immediate supervisor/manager regarding significant matters.
  • Propel continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing costs or enhancing productivity while ensuring quality remains uncompromised. Effectively apply continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Adhere to established organizational values, practices, policies, and procedures consistently. Comply with all relevant safety regulations, laws, and standards.
  • Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance at the designated work location. Travel may be required up to 75% of the time.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

The individual may be requested to undertake additional responsibilities as needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

A qualified individual for this position must possess the following:

  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and statistical quality analysis techniques.
  • Proficiency in data mining (e.g., SQL) and data analysis.
  • Computer literacy – demonstrate proficiency in PC operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with colleagues, team members, and both internal and external customers. Capable of reading and interpreting general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Able to present information effectively to groups.
  • Capability to interpret technical instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled formats.
  • Skill in performing accurate mathematical calculations and demonstrating statistical aptitude along with problem-solving techniques.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field and 1-3 years of relevant work experience are required.
  • Experience in the automotive lubricants and chemicals sector and familiarity with lean manufacturing principles is advantageous.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are necessary.
