Mental Health Outreach Coordinator

Job Summary:
Kitsap Mental Health Services is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Engagement and Outreach Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our outreach team, you will play a vital role in engaging clients in our services, providing education and support, and advocating for their rights and preferences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct outreach and engagement activities to connect clients with our services, including telephonic and in-person outreach.
- Provide supportive pre-engagement and engagement activities, including problem-solving, client education, referral to resources, reminders, and outreach.
- Organize and facilitate the Connections Orientation and serve as the point person for assignment and follow-up for clients who miss the orientation.
- Assist clients in reducing barriers to attending orientation or their first appointments.
- Provide initial engagement outreach, including motivational counseling, problem-solving, patient advocacy, education, referral to resources, reminder calls, and outreach, to encourage and facilitate patients to connect with behavioral health treatment services.
- Act as a community liaison between KMHS and other community services for the purposes of engaging clients in services.
- Assist with setting up paratransit or educating clients on the Kitsap transit system to assist with removing transportation barriers for engagement.
- Coordinate with the Population Health team in response to needs for engagement with clients on the high utilizer list or coming out of the hospital.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, social services, or a behavioral health field.
- Entry-level experience required, with a minimum of 1 year of experience.
- Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration.
- Ability to drive clients in a personal vehicle on behalf of the agency, with a valid driver's license and reliable, insured transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in co-occurring disorders treatment, individual and group therapy, vocational services, or substance abuse treatment.
Performance Requirements:
- Maintain a working knowledge of current trends in community mental health, including healthcare reform and automation of job tasks using computer technology.
- Maintain a working knowledge of mental health rehabilitation standards.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, clients, organizations, and the public.
- Communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Computer skills, including the ability to operate a personal computer, fax machine, printer, and copier proficiently.
Work Environment:
Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods.
Mental/Physical Requirements:
While performing the job duties, the employee is required to walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, talk, or listen. Peripheral vision is also required for this position.
