Position Overview

The University of North Carolina Wilmington is seeking a dedicated faculty member for a tenure-track role as an Assistant Professor specializing in Early Childhood Leadership, Policy, and Advocacy. This position is designed for an individual passionate about shaping the future of early childhood education through leadership and policy initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver online graduate-level courses concentrating on leadership, policy, and advocacy within the early childhood sector.
  • Oversee and mentor master's students in their final research projects.
  • Contribute to the growth and sustainability of the educational program.
  • Engage in ongoing research activities, including securing grants and publishing findings.
  • Participate in professional development related to teaching and research.
  • Provide service and leadership within the department, college, university, and broader community.
  • Guide student internships in community-focused programs related to early childhood leadership and advocacy.
Qualifications:
A Doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Early Childhood Leadership, Policy, Advocacy, or a closely related field from an accredited institution is required. Candidates who are ABD may be considered based on their anticipated graduation date.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in early childhood leadership, administration, policy, or advocacy.
  • Familiarity with national trends, research, and standards in early childhood education.
  • Proven track record of successful college-level teaching and proficiency in online instructional methods.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and community partners.
  • At least three years of experience in training or teaching adults in the early childhood field.
  • Capability to teach interdisciplinary online courses covering various aspects of early childhood education.
  • Experience working with diverse populations in inclusive community settings.
