Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Vice President, Department Operations to join our team at Mass General Brigham. This is a key leadership role that will oversee the strategic planning, direction, and implementation of departmental operations across our academic medical centers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership
    • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
    • Collaborate with department chairs and other senior leaders to ensure effective integration of departmental operations.
    • Provide leadership and direction to departmental administrators and staff.
  • Department Oversight
    • Oversee the administrative functions of academic departments, including appointments, promotions, and search processes.
    • Ensure effective clinical administration, including ambulatory clinic administration, inpatient service administration, and surgical/procedural service administration.
    • Support research administration, including pre-award and post-award administration.
  • Financial Management
    • Develop and manage departmental budgets, including capital and operating budgets.
    • Monitor and analyze financial reports to inform decision-making.
    • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • System Engagement
    • Develop and implement coordinated programmatic initiatives to improve care delivery and reduce costs.
    • Collaborate with counterparts across Mass General Brigham to assess market needs and develop programs to respond to those needs.
  • Human Resources Management
    • Oversee the management of departmental staff, including hiring, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
    • Develop and implement change management programs to improve efficiency and resource utilization.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as business administration or healthcare management.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in a healthcare or academic setting.
  • Proven track record of success in strategic planning, departmental operations, and financial management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
