Summary
The State of Maine, Bureau of Human Resources seeks a skilled Environmental Engineer Assistant to support the day-to-day activities of the stormwater engineering team. This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity to work on implementing the Stormwater Management Rules and reviewing land development projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reviewing stormwater management plans and systems proposed for land development projects
  • Conducting timely project reviews
  • Evaluating stormwater problems and communicating solutions to staff, contractors, and landowners
  • Assisting with training activities and workshops
  • Participating in pre-application and pre-submission meetings for land development projects

Requirements
To succeed in this position, you will need:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Civil, Sanitary, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering, or a related field
  • Excellent time management, communication skills, and experience working within tight timelines
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices related to stormwater management
  • Familiarity with stormwater-related environmental laws and rules
  • Ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders, including applicants, permittees, and project managers
