Position Overview:


The Registered Nurse in our Hospice Care setting is tasked with evaluating and addressing the needs of patients and their families. This role involves utilizing the nursing process, collaborating with the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG), and delivering palliative and supportive care to enhance the quality of life for our patients.


Required Qualifications:

  • Active Florida RN license or valid multistate/compact nurse license.
  • At least one year of experience in inpatient nursing or hospice care for external candidates; internal candidates should have a minimum of six months of LPN experience in hospice or home health.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate patient needs.
  • Capacity to manage the emotional challenges of caring for terminally ill patients and their families.
  • Physical ability to access patient areas and perform essential job functions.
  • Current BLS certification for healthcare providers.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance as per company policy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and oversee direct patient care as part of the IDG, considering psychosocial, spiritual, and physical aspects.
  • Develop and coordinate individualized Plans of Care that reflect patient needs.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on disease processes and care practices.
  • Communicate changes in patient conditions to the IDG and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in the evaluation of hospice referrals and admissions.
  • Provide bereavement support to families in collaboration with psychosocial staff.
  • Ensure accurate communication with all stakeholders, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Supervise care provided by nursing team members.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

The role requires the ability to see, hear, speak, and move effectively. Frequent standing, sitting, reaching, and lifting are necessary, along with occasional bending and climbing.


This position requires compliance with drug and alcohol testing policies following a conditional offer of employment.
