About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Registered Nurse to join our PRN team at Johnstown Heights Behavioral Health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide and coordinate care for patients with physical and behavioral health needs, developing and implementing individualized nursing care plans.
  • Assess patient status on an ongoing basis and document pertinent information.
  • Ensure nursing treatment plans are specific to assessed needs and initial treatment plans are completed upon admission.
  • Accurately administer medications and document accurate counts of controlled substances.
  • Notify physicians of significant changes in patient status, such as difficulties with detox or medical emergencies.
  • Supervise self-administration of medications and maintain accountability of administration, recording, control, and security of medications.
  • Complete admission and discharge processes efficiently and accurately.
  • Confer regularly with the treatment team regarding patient care and participate in unit activities, such as therapy groups and family meetings.
  • Provide education and explanation to patients, families, and coworkers regarding medication usage, patient rights, and other topics necessary for optimal patient care.
  • Monitor patient acuity, census, and staffing needs, making arrangements for coverage as needed.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved or accredited school of nursing.
  • One or more years of nursing experience within the clinical area of service provided by the facility, preferred.
  • Experience in behavioral health, psychiatric, or addiction recovery environments, preferred.
  • Valid current RN license from the state or a compact state, where applicable.
  • Certified in Psychiatric Nursing, preferred.
  • CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required.
