Johnstown Heights Behavioral Health is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our PRN team.

Job Summary

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to provide high-quality patient care in our behavioral health setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide and coordinate patient care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs, developing and implementing nursing care plans, and maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Assess patient status on an ongoing basis and document pertinent information.
  • Ensure nursing treatment plans are specific to assessed needs and initial treatment plans are completed upon admission.
  • Administer medications accurately and document accurate counts of controlled substances.
  • Notify physicians of significant changes in patient status, such as difficulties with detox or medical emergencies.
  • Supervise self-administration of medications and maintain accountability of administration, recording, control, and security of medications.
  • Complete admission and discharge processes efficiently and accurately as directed.
  • Confer regularly with the treatment team regarding patient care and participate in unit activities, such as therapy groups and family meetings.
  • Provide education and explanation to patients, families, and coworkers regarding medication usage, patient rights, and other topics necessary for optimal patient care.
  • Monitor patient acuity, census, and staffing needs, and make arrangements for coverage as needed.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing.
  • One or more years of nursing experience within the clinical area of service provided by the facility, preferred.
  • Experience in behavioral health/psychiatric/addiction recovery environment, preferred.
  • Valid current RN license from the state or from a compact state, where applicable.
  • Certified in Psychiatric Nursing, preferred.
  • CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by the facility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
