Job SummaryWe are looking for skilled and compassionate Registered Nurses to provide high-quality patient care in our behavioral health setting. As a PRN Registered Nurse, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing care to patients with a range of mental health needs.
Responsibilities- Provide and coordinate care for patients with physical and behavioral health needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans.
- Assess patient status on an ongoing basis, documenting pertinent information and ensuring patient safety at all times.
- Take physician orders accurately and document appropriately, transcribing and reviewing orders as needed.
- Administer medications per ordered note, documenting accurate counts of controlled substances and monitoring lab results for medication compliance.
- Notify physicians of significant changes in patient status, such as difficulties with detox or medical emergencies.
- Supervise self-administration of medications, using safety initiatives to ensure patient identification and documentation.
- Maintain accountability of medication administration, recording, control, and security, including narcotics.
- Complete admission and discharge processes efficiently and accurately, conferring with the treatment team as needed.
- Provide education and explanation to patients, families, and coworkers regarding medication usage, patient rights, and other topics necessary for optimal patient care.
- Monitor patient acuity, census, and staffing needs, making arrangements for coverage as needed.
- Assure thorough and accurate documentation for all patients, completing patient assignment sheets daily and tasks as assigned.
- Give thorough report to oncoming staff, supervisors, and physicians, providing coverage in emergency services as needed.
- Graduation from an approved or accredited school of nursing.
- One or more years of nursing experience within the clinical area of service provided by the facility, preferred.
- Experience in behavioral health, psychiatric, or addiction recovery environments, preferred.
- Valid current RN license from the state or a compact state, where applicable.
- Certified in Psychiatric Nursing, preferred.
- CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required, with training available upon hire and offered by the facility.
- First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
