Job Overview

Position Title: Educational Support Specialist

Qualifications/Certification:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  2. Preferred: Associate's Degree or two years of collegiate coursework, or paraprofessional certification.
  3. Experience in an educational environment is advantageous.
  4. Ability to engage with and support students with special needs is essential.
  5. Strong communication and organizational abilities are required.
  6. Must be physically capable of performing all job-related tasks on a daily basis.

Reports To:

  1. Supervisor of Specialized Instruction & Data Analytics

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Under the direct guidance of a teacher, assist in executing plans and programs aimed at the academic or functional skill development for students facing mental, physical, and/or emotional learning challenges.
  2. Provide both academic and physical support to students with disabilities as directed, whether in one-on-one or small group settings.
  3. Support teachers in delivering academic instruction and in the implementation of students' Individual Education Programs (IEP).
  4. Assist in delivering research-based behavioral interventions and supervision as directed by administration and teaching staff.
  5. Help in executing lesson plans effectively.
  6. Collaborate with teachers to modify materials to align with the academic levels of individual students or groups.
  7. Conduct student observations, gather data, and provide feedback to teachers regarding student progress as requested.
  8. Participate in relevant conferences, workshops, and in-service programs to fulfill and/or maintain professional development requirements.
  9. Complete daily documentation and provide weekly updates to special education facilitators, covering support needs, chronic absenteeism, behavioral concerns, etc.
  10. Perform additional tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor of Special Education or their designee.
