- Classroom Management: Create and maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, and manage classroom behavior to ensure a productive and respectful learning space.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate regularly with parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders to ensure that students receive the support and services they need to succeed.
- Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Develop and implement assessments to measure student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education and to enhance instructional skills.
- Education and Certification: Possess a valid Pennsylvania teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience: Have experience working with students with special needs, and a strong understanding of special education law and regulations.
- Skills: Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
The Special Education Teacher will work in a variety of settings, including classrooms, meetings, and professional development sessions. The position requires the ability to stand, walk, and move around the classroom and school building, and to lift and carry materials as needed.
Authority and Accountability:The Special Education Teacher will have the authority to make decisions regarding instructional planning and delivery, and will be accountable for ensuring that students receive high-quality instruction and support.
