Position Overview: The Chief EEG Technologist is responsible for overseeing the EEG Technologists within the Epilepsy Monitoring Units (EMUs) and ensuring the technical integrity of the services provided.

This role serves as a crucial link between EEG Technologists, medical professionals, and other healthcare personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision of EEG Technologists.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of the EEG Lab Policies & Procedures Manual.
  • Performing and troubleshooting various EEG modalities.
  • Ensuring the quality of EEGs aligns with EMU standards.
  • Providing didactic instruction for technologists preparing for ABRET EEG Certification.
  • Coordinating schedules for EEG Technologists and new staff.

Qualifications:

Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) accredited Electroneurodiagnostic (END) program, or an Associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution is required, along with a minimum of 200 CEUs in the Neurodiagnostic field. A Master's degree or relevant postgraduate education is advantageous.

Certification eligibility in Long Term Monitoring (CLTM preferred) and a minimum of five years of experience in ICU Long Term Monitoring, including records acquisition and review, is necessary.

Work Experience:

A minimum of five years of clinical EEG Technologist experience across various age groups (Neonates, Pediatric, Adult, and Geriatric) is required, or equivalent experience in a related field if an AMA approved program in EEG Technology was not completed.
