We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician II to join our team at Sutter Health. As a key member of our Central Processing department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to decontamination, sterilization, and instrument processing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Decontaminate and sterilize medical instruments and equipment using various methods, including steam, ethylene oxide, and plasma chamber.
  • Handle and assemble surgical instruments, ensuring proper care and maintenance.
  • Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, including washer-decontaminators, ultrasonic cleaners, and Steris System 1.
  • Perform quality control checks on sterilized instruments and equipment.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient and effective processing of instruments and equipment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent education/experience.
  • Graduate of an approved Central Processing program or Operating Room Technician program.
  • Equivalent combination of education and pertinent/directly related experience in Central Processing in an acute-care hospital environment.
  • Certification as a Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Central Board Sterile Processing Distribution (CBSPD) is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate of an approved program with completion of required externship in an acute care hospital performing instrument processing/handling functions.
  • Experience in an acute care hospital preferred.
Working Conditions

This position may regularly work with hazardous materials, including chemicals and biological agents. The successful candidate will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow established safety protocols.
