This federally funded program boasts a longstanding reputation for excellence. The program prioritizes the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of children, while promoting lifelong learning and empowering families through active parental involvement.
Role Overview: The Early Childhood Education Support Specialist plays a crucial role in facilitating the delivery of educational experiences that nurture each child's growth and development. This position ensures a safe, healthy, and developmentally suitable environment while supporting comprehensive services. The role is school-based, requiring 7.5 hours of commitment each day. Salary and benefits are managed by Augusta County Schools.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess either a bachelor’s or associate degree with a focus on child development, education, or a related field. Alternatively, candidates may hold a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or an equivalent qualification, or be actively enrolled in a program to obtain such credentials, with a commitment to complete the program within two years.
We encourage applications from qualified current or former Head Start parents. Bilingual abilities are advantageous. Successful candidates must complete background checks upon hiring, which include a TB test and physical examination. Professional development, comprehensive services, and guidance on regulatory compliance will be provided by the staff at Shenandoah Valley Head Start.
