Job Overview:

The Cashier/Sales Associate plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service. Under the guidance of the Team Leader Coach and Assistant Team Leader, this position is responsible for welcoming customers, assisting them at the register, and maintaining a tidy sales environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Cashier Responsibilities:

  1. Greet customers promptly and courteously, offering assistance in locating or selecting products to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
  2. Efficiently operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to guarantee accurate sales transactions.
  3. Maintain cleanliness of front doors, counters, and display cases, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
  4. Support promotional activities by providing customer information and maintaining special displays.
  5. Keep the checkout area organized and stocked, ensuring a neat presentation at all times.
  6. Assist in onboarding and training new cashiers.
  7. Ensure dressing rooms are clean and organized, re-hanging clothing as necessary.
  8. Properly place merchandise on the sales floor and rotate stock as needed.
  9. Adhere to all organizational policies and safety practices, reporting any hazards to the Team Leader Coach.

Sales Responsibilities:

  1. Meet and exceed production goals by ensuring accurate inventory counts and maintaining a well-organized sales floor.
  2. Engage with customers to provide assistance with merchandise inquiries and promote suggestive sales.
  3. Follow Goodwill's Guiding Principles in all interactions.
  4. Maintain a clean and organized sales environment to enhance customer experience and maximize sales potential.
  5. Report any incidents of theft to a management team member or Loss Prevention Manager.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to lift items weighing up to 45 lbs, including bending, pushing, pulling, or reaching.
  2. Capability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Working Conditions:

Work may involve exposure to varying temperatures.

Interpersonal Skills:

  1. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members and customers.
  2. Work independently while maintaining a positive and friendly demeanor.

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or GED is required.
  2. Preferred experience includes six months in retail sales.
  3. Ability to manage cash handling procedures in accordance with corporate policies.
  4. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with basic math skills.
  5. Must pass a drug and criminal background check.
  6. Availability to work evenings and weekends is required.

This position does not supervise others.
