Job Summary:The Instructor - Support Specialist will be responsible for providing direct support and training to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, promoting their independence, and enhancing their quality of life. This role requires a strong commitment to delivering exceptional care and support, while also fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide direct support and training to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, focusing on daily living skills, mobility training, and coping skills.
- Develop and implement individualized service plans, ensuring that each person's unique needs and goals are met.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including healthcare providers, social workers, and family members, to ensure comprehensive care and support.
- Document and maintain accurate records of individual progress, including behavioral data and service delivery.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as crisis intervention, behavioral support, and person-centered planning.
- High School diploma or equivalent required; degree in a related field (e.g., special education, psychology, social work) preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, preferably in a residential or community-based setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to lift, bend, and move with individuals as needed, with a focus on maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
