Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Construction Truck Driver to join our team at the Port of Seattle. As a Construction Truck Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating heavy equipment and trucks to transport materials and equipment to and from construction sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Class 8 equipment with 10-speed manual transmissions
  • Drive heavy trucks, including multi-axle trucks and dump trucks with 10-speed manual transmissions
  • Ensure safety regulations are observed during loading, transporting, and unloading of materials
  • Perform thorough safety inspections of tractors and trailers prior to operation
  • Maintain accurate paperwork and related records
  • Drive heavy dump trucks with pup, tilt, or low-boy trailers hauling equipment or material to construction sites or other Port properties
  • Complete timecards to document work performed during a shift
  • Send and respond to electronic mail as needed
  • Attend periodic meetings for training and discussion of important safety issues
  • Assist other crafts as requested
Requirements
  • Five years of experience operating commercial dump trucks and/or tractor-trailer combinations
  • Washington State Class A Commercial Driver's License with Doubles Endorsement and Air Brake restrictions removed
  • Current DOT Medical Card
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Desired: ten years of commercial vehicle experience operating some combination of commercial dump trucks, tractors, on-highway hauling, Class 8 delivery driving, or refuse driving

  • Knowledge of City, State, and Federal commercial driving regulations and safe operation of trailers
  • Awareness of safety regulations and ability to lift up to 70 lbs. infrequently and 40 lbs. more regularly in a safe manner
