Project Overview

Through the Private Sector Engagement Modernization Contract (PSEMC), Dexis collaborates with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to enhance partnerships with the private sector, aiming for improved development outcomes. The PSE Hub's mission is to establish the necessary institutional conditions, operational frameworks, and capacities to broaden engagement with the private sector in the U.S. and partner nations. The PSE Hub is focused on transforming and modernizing USAID's approach to development by institutionalizing PSE policies and delivering support for capacity and systems-building across all sectors and countries where USAID operates.

Position Summary

Dexis is in search of an Economic Evidence Analyst to assist the independent Office of the Chief Economist (OCE). This office aims to enhance the effectiveness of USAID's programming by integrating robust economic evidence, theories, and tools into the Agency's initiatives. The OCE focuses on promoting high-quality evidence of cost-effectiveness in decision-making, generating new cost-effectiveness evidence, and providing analysis on significant macroeconomic challenges.

Key Responsibilities

The Economic Evidence Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting OCE's mission to elevate the use of evidence in USAID's program decision-making. This includes:

  • Evidence Synthesis and Insight Generation (40%)
    Conducting analyses to synthesize cost-effectiveness evidence related to development outcomes, particularly in the Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) sector. This involves reviewing academic literature and compiling program cost data to complement evaluation evidence.
  • Capacity Building through Tool Development (25%)
    Planning and executing the creation of tools and guidance to assist USAID staff in utilizing cost-effectiveness evidence and generating new evidence during program design and implementation.
  • Technical Assistance to USAID Units (35%)
    Identifying opportunities for Missions and Operating Units to enhance program effectiveness through evidence utilization and generation, providing hands-on technical support as needed.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and a minimum of two years of experience in areas such as economics, international affairs, or public policy. A strong background in synthesizing and applying research for decision-making, effective communication skills, and the ability to travel internationally are essential.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional knowledge of SMEs and familiarity with impact evaluation methodologies in low- and middle-income countries are advantageous. Experience in donor agencies or with implementing partners is also beneficial.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $65,000-$75,000 USD.
