The Accounting Manager will play a pivotal role within the Senior Administration, leading efforts in four primary domains: Accounts Receivable, Student Enrollment Agreements & Financial Aid, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), and Accounting. Key Responsibilities of the Accounting Manager:
- Oversee student tuition accounts, ensuring compliance with financial policies for incoming payments.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and follow up with parents regarding overdue payments.
- Execute daily financial transactions, including verification, classification, computation, posting, and recording of accounts receivable data.
- Reconcile accounts receivable to ensure accurate posting of all payments.
- Update vendor information in the accounting system, resolve discrepancies, and address billing issues.
- Assist the Controller with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including postings, accruals, journal entries, account reconciliations, and audits.
- Generate and distribute monthly budget reports, aiding the CFO in budget monitoring and enforcement of internal controls.
- Support the CFO in the development of the annual Preliminary and Final Budgets.
- Collaborate with the CFO and HR Coordinator to establish salary and benefits budgets.
- Conduct ongoing financial analysis to inform policy decisions and update the Multi-Year Financial Plan.
- Maintain and revise the Accounting Policies Manual as necessary.
- Prepare and distribute student Enrollment Agreements as required throughout the fiscal year.
- Actively engage in the Flexible Tuition Committee, reviewing financial aid applications, preparing underwriting analyses, and communicating award decisions.
- Assist with invoice processing and Accounts Payable functions as needed.
- Support the Business Office in overseeing the daily student transportation program.
- Provide coverage for the front desk/health office and perform additional assigned duties.
Qualifications for the Accounting Manager:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is required.
- CPA certification and relevant work experience are essential.
- A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit educational environment.
- Self-motivated individual capable of working independently while effectively prioritizing tasks.
- Proficient in technology, with strong knowledge of Google Suite, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and ideally Blackbaud.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally across all organizational levels, fostering teamwork and positive relationships.
- Detail-oriented, capable of meeting deadlines, and comfortable in a dynamic, high-volume setting with shifting priorities.
- Willingness to learn and develop in accounting and customer service, demonstrating high ethical standards, professionalism, and strong interpersonal skills.
- First Aid and CPR training is required (training will be provided if not currently certified).
- A valid driver's license and a clean criminal background check are necessary.
