The University of Missouri Health Care is seeking a dedicated and empathetic professional to fulfill the role of a Clinical Dietitian. As an integral part of our multidisciplinary patient care team, you will play a crucial role in the nutrition care process, delivering outstanding service through comprehensive assessments, precise diagnoses, tailored interventions, and ongoing monitoring and evaluation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough nutrition assessments for patients or clients in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and protocols. Make accurate nutrition diagnoses supported by assessment data and customize nutrition interventions for each individual.
- Provide continuous nutrition education, including training for dietetic students and interns, assessing educational needs, and offering nutrition counseling for individuals or groups. Develop and update patient education materials and engage in community education initiatives as required.
- Communicate effectively with nursing, medical, and other healthcare staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality nutritional care. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, discharge planning, and patient care conferences to facilitate effective communication among team members.
- Oversee clinical nutrition operations by assigning and managing the workload of dietitians and diet technicians. Assist in maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and identify opportunities to enhance awareness of nutrition services.
- Collect and analyze performance improvement data, monitor outcomes, and implement corrective actions as necessary. Keep management informed about issues affecting the work area and contribute to problem-solving efforts.
- Maintain current knowledge in the field of nutrition to ensure evidence-based practices for patients, staff, students, and the community.
Qualifications:
- Licensure as a Dietitian from the Missouri Committee of Dietitians.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Additional certifications or licenses as determined by the hiring department.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of this position may include the ability to ambulate, maintain a stationary position, and reach or move objects above and below shoulder height. The role may also require lifting objects up to 10 lbs.
