Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Behavioral Health Technician to join our team at Saint Francis Community Services. As a Behavioral Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to our clients, while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in daily planning routines with clients to ensure their needs are met.
  • Supervise and mentor clients during meals, dressing, and personal hygiene, while promoting a clean and organized living space.
  • Provide structure, discipline, and security to clients, while serving as a positive role model and source of feedback.
  • Monitor clients at all times, intervening in crisis situations using approved de-escalation techniques.
  • Document significant client behaviors and interactions, while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional ethics.
  • Assist in maintaining the overall cleanliness of the campus, including assigned cleaning or maintenance duties.
  • Administer prescribed medication, document its effects, and maintain accurate records.
  • Supervise clients during chapel services and serve as an adult role model.
  • Participate in on-call duties as needed, while reporting critical incidents to DFPS and other relevant authorities.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Pass a drug screen and TB Skin Test.
  • Submit to a Criminal History and DFPS History Check.
  • Pass a Centralized Background Check through the Texas Health and Human Services Eligibility.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Lifting requirements of 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Mandated Reporter certification.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing situations, staff, and clients.
  • Sensitive to the needs of youth and their families.
  • Basic understanding of childhood development, treatment, and defense mechanisms.
  • Independent discretion and decision-making within the scope of the position.
