Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our float pool team at St. Joseph's Medical Group Clinics. As a Medical Assistant, you will provide exceptional patient care and administrative support in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care responsibilities, including taking vital signs, performing venipuncture, collecting specimens, EKGs/ECGs, and POCTs.
  • Collect patient history, perform medication reconciliation, and enter information in the electronic medical record.
  • Assist with procedures, administer medication under direction/order of a supervising medical provider, and instruct patients on general care and medical procedures.
  • Maintain patient and service rooms in a neat and orderly condition, schedule patient tests, procedures, and appointments, and conduct patient outreach phone calls and post-visit follow-ups.
  • Respond to routine patient phone calls and MyChart messages, and perform clerical/administrative responsibilities, including filing and/or scanning patient medical records, obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information.
  • Take inventory of clinic supplies, order supplies as needed, and support the clinic/departments compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform functions of the Office Associate/Patient Access Representative and be cross-trained to fill in this role as needed.
  • Conduct Performance Improvement activities that support the clinic/departments goals for quality, patient experience, patient safety, and/or efficiency.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Successfully completed Medication Aide 40-hour course or current/valid Medication Aide certification by state agency required if applicable.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) required from American Heart Association.
Requirements
  • Ability to perform EKGs, draw blood, and administer injections.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to staff and patients.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
  • Through knowledge of the meaning and use of medical terminology and abbreviations.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations.
  • Maintains a positive, caring attitude towards patients.
  • Good computer skills using a medical management application.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.
