Waste Management Specialist

About the Role

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Waste Management Specialist to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to our mission of providing top-notch waste management services.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of waste management principles and practices. You will be responsible for operating a variety of equipment, including forklifts, and ensuring that all tasks are completed safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  1. Comply with all safety rules, policies, and procedures, and take a proactive approach to preventing accidents and injuries.
  2. Maintain current training and certification in forklift operation, and complete all required safety and task training certifications.
  3. Perform repetitive tasks, such as moving waste pallets and stacking materials, in a safe and efficient manner.
  4. Take direction from supervisors and respond to feedback in a professional and courteous manner.
  5. Operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, to load, unload, and stack materials, and move waste pallets around the facility.
  6. Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers, and provide excellent customer service.
  7. Ensure that all tasks are completed to a high standard, and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  8. Perform daily equipment checks, and complete maintenance tasks as required.
  9. Maintain accurate records and logs, and complete required reporting.
  10. Support the shift lead in completing punch-list items, and assist with other tasks as required.
  11. Wear personal protective equipment, and follow all safety protocols.
  12. Present a professional image and conduct, and demonstrate a commitment to customer satisfaction.
  13. Understand the importance of environmental sustainability, and contribute to our efforts to reduce waste and promote recycling.
  14. Maintain the dock and collection areas, and collect, salvage, and sort reusable or recyclable materials.
  15. Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisors, and assist with investigations as required.
  16. Fill in during staff shortages, and assist with other tasks as required.

Requirements

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.

  2. At least six months of related experience and/or training, preferably in waste management or a related field.

  3. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record required.

  4. Forklift certification required, and completion of all required safety and task training certifications.

Working Conditions

This is a full-time position, working Sunday-Wednesday 7:30pm-6:00am and 6:00pm-4:30am. The estimated salary for this role is $15.50-$16.00 per hour, dependent on experience and qualifications.
