Culinary Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our team at Hal Smith Restaurants. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes to high standards of quality and presentation.
Responsibilities- Prepare and cook food to order, adhering to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Ensure all food is prepared and presented to the highest standards of quality and safety.
- Estimate food consumption and requisition or purchase supplies as needed.
- Portion, arrange, and garnish food to enhance presentation and appeal.
- Regulate oven, broiler, grill, fryer, and roaster temperatures to ensure optimal cooking results.
- Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience.
- Wash, peel, cut, and de-seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption.
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to specific recipes using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices.
- Assist fellow co-workers as needed to maintain a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.
- Grill, deep fry, bake, broil, and microwave raw and prepped foods to meet menu guidelines.
- Maintain the cooking line in a clean, sanitary, and safe manner at all times.
- Stock and restock items on the line according to specifications.
- Wash and clean raw food products to prevent contamination.
- Peel, dice, shred, and slice food products using electric equipment.
- Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods to customers.
- Maintain personal health and sanitation standards, including washing hands after using the restroom.
- Review work procedures and operational problems to determine ways to improve service, performance, and safety.
- Be observant of any safety concerns surrounding your work area.
- Answer phones in a professional manner as trained.
- Follow all health standards and guidelines established.
- Maintain all side stations well-stocked throughout your shift.
- Clean all spills that may occur during your shift.
- Aware of any potentially hazardous conditions.
- Superior attendance and punctuality.
- Always wear a safety belt when lifting objects over 20 lbs.
- Always wear slip-resistant shoes.
- Provide information to supervisors/managers as needed.
- Reaches, bends, stoops, lifts, carries, and pushes.
- Lifts and carries supplies and cases weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Essential hand-eye coordination.
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior restaurant/bar work environment.
- Noise level is moderate to high.
- Limited exposure to physical risk.
- Moderate physical effort required.
