Position Title: Lounge Bartender

Overview:

The Lounge Bartender is responsible for taking beverage orders, preparing, and serving a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, as well as light meals to guests in a courteous and efficient manner, in line with hotel standards. This role also involves maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bar area and ensuring that all supplies are adequately stocked.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the assigned work area.
  2. Possess comprehensive knowledge of all menu offerings, including liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic options available in the lounge.
  3. Understand the characteristics and descriptions of wines and champagnes available by the glass, as well as the major selections on the wine list.
  4. Familiarize oneself with the appropriate glassware and garnishes for each beverage.
  5. Adhere strictly to state liquor regulations, particularly those regarding service to minors and intoxicated individuals.
  6. Maintain awareness of table numbers, proper table setups, room capacity, hours of operation, menus, pricing, and dress code.
  7. Handle cash and maintain an accurate bank at all times.
  8. Complete opening duties, including stocking supplies and preparing the bar area for service.
  9. Inspect the cleanliness and condition of the service area and address any issues.
  10. Greet guests warmly and take their food and beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques.
  11. Input orders into the system and ensure accuracy in transmission to the kitchen and bar staff.
  12. Document orders legibly in case of system outages and distribute them for preparation.
  13. Provide service for designated beverages and manage wine and champagne service.
  14. Answer phone calls promptly and professionally.
  15. Maintain cleanliness of tables and service areas, removing soiled items as necessary.
  16. Process guest checks and payments, adhering to cash handling policies.
  17. Extend courteous farewells to guests as they leave.
  18. Reset tables promptly after guests depart.
  19. Communicate last call to guests at the appropriate time.
  20. Report tips accurately at the end of the shift.
  21. Use cleaning chemicals according to safety regulations and hotel standards.
  22. Complete closing duties, ensuring all reusable items are stored properly and the bar area is cleaned.
  23. Document maintenance needs and submit reports to management.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent; must be at least 21 years old to serve alcoholic beverages. A minimum of two years of experience in a similar role is preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the English language, knowledge of drink recipes, and beverage service standards. Certifications in liquor, wine, and food service, as well as in an alcohol awareness program and CPR, are beneficial. Proficiency in using property management systems and point of sale systems is required. Previous training in guest relations is also advantageous.
