Host Coverage Support Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Host Coverage Support Specialist to join our team at Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC). As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will provide critical support and engagement services to homeless adults experiencing severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Provide a welcoming and therapeutic presence for clients in our drop-in clinic, engaging them in services and supporting their basic needs.
- Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with clinical programs, outreach teams, and other service providers to ensure continuity of care for clients.
- Participate in community engagement and outreach activities to promote the needs of DESC clients with mental illness and co-occurring disorders.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to provide liaison services, stabilization, and transition to long-term behavioral health or other appropriate ongoing services.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including distributing client payee funds and maintaining accurate records.
- Relevant Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or related behavioral science, or equivalent experience and training.
- Ability to meet Washington Department of Health requirements for registration as a Registered Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) or other superseding credential.
- Flexibility to work varied shift times, including 9am-2pm and 12pm-5pm.
- Knowledge of recovery-focused, strengths-based work in mental health and harm reduction strategies.
- Ability to work effectively with clients displaying a wide range of behaviors and communicate effectively with staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to drive an agency or personal vehicle for conducting business, including a current Washington State driver's license and insurable driving record.
- Experience working with adults experiencing homelessness, mental illness, and co-occurring disorders.
- Bi-cultural background or experience, and/or bilingual English/Spanish skills.
- Strong knowledge of relevant community resources and methods for accessing them.
