We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Service and Maintenance Aide to join our team at the City of Modesto. As a Service and Maintenance Aide, you will provide unskilled and/or semi-skilled labor and maintenance work in various City departments, including Public Works, Utilities, Parks, Recreation and Neighborhoods, and Modesto Police Department.
Key Responsibilities- Perform manual labor and custodial duties in assigned maintenance areas, including sweeping, mopping, and cleaning.
- Load and unload supplies and materials, and operate large riding mowers, tractors, and other turf maintenance equipment.
- Apply herbicides with large and small sprayers, and lead crews of non-paid labor, including court referrals and youth summer program participants.
- Maintain and repair public sprinkler systems, pick up trash on property, and remove noxious weeds.
- Perform airfield inspections, and operate construction equipment, such as dump trucks, rollers, and front loaders.
- High school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Possession of a valid California driver's license.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, nights, holidays, and/or split-shift assignments.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, and work in confined spaces.
- Ability to read and write at a level necessary for acceptable job performance.
Work is performed in a typical temperature-controlled office environment, subject to typical office noise and environment. Some positions may be assigned to remote locations, and may require occasional overtime and weekend work.
