Job Summary

The Refrigeration Service Technician will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of our Ammonia Refrigeration System, ensuring that our food storage areas and equipment are in good working order. This is a critical role that requires attention to detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair the Ammonia Refrigeration System, including water, heating, air conditioning, and electrical systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment and machinery, including refrigeration units, compressors, and condensers.
  • Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions, and perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is performed to company standards, and document all work completed.
  • Report on parts inventory and recommend supplies and tools as needed.
  • Complete required reports and maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks.
  • Answer security and alarm calls, including fire alarms and refrigeration alarms.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, and ensure all tools are stored properly.
  • Responsible for the ammonia system, and may be called out during non-working hours to deactivate alarms and ensure no leaks.
  • Notify area supervisor and maintenance manager of any potential threats to product safety.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • HVAC Certificate: Operator level I certificate in Ammonia Refrigerator preferred.
  • 2-5 years of equipment maintenance experience or schooling equivalent.
  • 2-5 years of refrigeration maintenance and operations experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow work procedures, safety rules, and food safety rules.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow directions/instructions.
  • Repairing/rebuilding equipment may require lifting up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, reach, stretch, step, climb, and/or sit frequently or through the duration of the shift.
  • Have appropriate eye, hand, and foot coordination to properly use various equipment and/or tools.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at higher elevations.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems and operations.
  • Ability to perform simple math calculations.
  • Ability to write numeric and alphanumeric characters.
  • Ability to accept supervisory coaching related to performance, work habits, and attitude.
  • Ability to function as a team member and get along with others.
