About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Manager to join our team at the City of New York. As a key member of our Civil Section, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of civil engineering documents, including plans and technical specifications for large and complex projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee a staff of personnel engaged in preparing designs for civil engineering projects
  • Develop staff skills to meet the needs of project scope
  • Review and comment on designs of staff
  • Perform high-level engineering for critical and complex aspects of projects
  • Liaise with operating bureaus and other agency stakeholders to ensure proper execution of work
  • Establish standards, specifications, and design criteria based on industry standards
  • Stay up-to-date on changing regulations and technology
  • Perform administrative functions, including evaluations, time and leave approvals, staff planning, and hiring processes
Requirements
  • Valid New York State License as a Professional Engineer
  • Six (6) years of full-time satisfactory experience in chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, or plan examining work
  • At least two (2) years of experience in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity
