JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a proactive and driven individual to become part of a well-respected and engineering-focused organization. This role will involve the development and execution of efficient, cost-effective manufacturing techniques and practices in alignment with product specifications and quality benchmarks. The successful candidate will also recommend and implement enhancements to production workflows, methods, and controls, while coordinating the manufacturing launch for new or modified products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities of this position encompass a diverse range of tasks, including but not limited to:
Enhancing process efficiency and plant profitability through targeted problem-solving initiatives. Utilize expertise in product design, fabrication, assembly, costing, tooling, and materials. Design and execute research initiatives. Collaborate with equipment suppliers and gather insights from operators.
Inspire, educate, and lead teams. Refine manufacturing methods, processes, scheduling, work instructions, and training to maximize production capacity and efficiency.
Assess and provide recommendations on manufacturing quality control systems, processes to be adopted, and lists of procedures to be followed, including tooling and fixtures.
Determine the time, workspace, equipment, logistics, and labor needs for both new and existing programs. Provide production cost estimates, labor, and material requirements for timely program launches and product deliveries. This role will require a hands-on approach to fact-finding.
Present compelling statistical data to management that supports critical recommendations and identifies future manufacturing needs.
Establish standards, design testing methodologies, and evaluate finished product and process capabilities. Prepare comprehensive product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing relevant information and trends.
Ensure equipment functionality by coordinating maintenance and repair services, adhering to manufacturer guidelines and established protocols, and requesting specialized services when necessary.
Offer engineering support by addressing inquiries and requests while adhering to all company policies and regulatory requirements.
Maintain an up-to-date product and process database.
Assist in the implementation and maintenance of IATF16949:2016 and EMS 14001 Environmental Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate should be capable of anticipating challenges and implementing sustainable solutions. This expert must identify design, feasibility, and capacity challenges across various departments. A charismatic problem solver, this individual must educate, motivate, and guide teams through systematic process enhancements. The candidate must provide engineering support for a two-shift operation, with a strong sense of urgency, integrity, and discipline.
- A four-year degree and/or equivalent experience is required; a BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in a high-volume, high-mix manufacturing setting. Previous quoting experience is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Auto CAD and NX.
- Strong technical capacity; adept in problem-solving and analysis; performance management; leadership; and communication skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific reports and technical procedures. Proficient in writing business reports, correspondence, policies, and procedures. Capable of effectively presenting information to groups, managers, the Board of Directors, customers, and suppliers. Ability to respond to inquiries and complaints. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for communication, problem-solving, and negotiation.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Proficient in applying fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Capable of managing several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to devise creative and practical solutions and interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Proficient in using a personal computer to generate reports, presentations, and spreadsheets using Windows-based software; capable of creating drawings and blueprints using Computer-Aided Drafting software.
