Job Description

The Automation Projects Engineer will play a key role in the development and implementation of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) projects, production, processing methods, and controls at Work For Warriors Georgia. This position will ensure that processes are centered, capable, and in control, reducing process variations and resolving special causes variation.

This position will also provide leadership in the implementation and support of plant automation, electrical, and database systems. The successful candidate will provide electrical and electronic technical support to all production and maintenance operations throughout the plant.

The Automation Projects Engineer will be responsible for designing, budgeting, scheduling, and managing capital projects, as well as providing daily technical and troubleshooting support to the manufacturing operation of the facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designing and developing new process control systems and revising/maintaining existing processes
  • Developing and implementing WCM projects, and managing and guiding contractors, consultants, and suppliers
  • Managing automation-related projects and providing status reports to plant management
  • Developing and maintaining PLC/HMI systems from the plant floor to management and financial levels
  • Researching, designing, and evaluating electrical and automation equipment, processes, and systems
  • Developing CAD drawings, BOMs, and schematics
  • Obtaining cost estimates and contractor bids for electrical and automation projects and improvements
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering or similar discipline or equivalent experience
  • Ten to twenty years of applied professional experience in Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) / PLC, automation, industrial protocols/networking (switching & routing), and databases
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving capabilities to work effectively in corporate, manufacturing, and team environments
  • Thorough knowledge of AC/DC drive systems, Power distribution systems including switch gear components, Servo Motor Equipment and programming, Ethernet Networking systems, HMI and PLC Programming / Troubleshooting, Electrical and Electronic systems integration, Electro-Mechanical design and troubleshooting
  • Thorough knowledge of Capital and Maintenance project management
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical, including P&ID, IO schematics, one-line diagrams, 3-line schematics, and other related knowledge
