Job Summary

The Correctional Probation Specialist is responsible for supervising and monitoring high-risk offenders, including sex offenders, to ensure public safety and compliance with supervision orders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field and office supervision visits to monitor offender behavior and ensure compliance with supervision orders.
  • Conduct pre-sentence, post-sentence, and other required investigations on offenders.
  • Make recommendations on offenders under supervision or pending disposition to the sentencing authority.
  • Conduct background investigations on prospective employees.
  • Provide investigative and intelligence assistance to local and state law enforcement agencies.
  • Enforce compliance with Florida statutes related to sex offender registration and supervision.
  • Monitor offender activities for compliance with curfew restrictions and make recommendations for offenders to wear a monitoring device if deemed necessary.
  • Assess and/or assist in assessing and identifying offender needs, treatment options, and supervision objectives.
  • Establish and record structured treatment programs and other programs designed to enhance offender self-improvement.
  • Utilize information management systems to develop offender payment plans and enforce offender compliance.
  • Maintain case records and document the status of offender background, legal history, treatment, and progress.
  • Exhibit appropriate demeanor and knowledge as a representative of the Department of Corrections.
Requirements
  • Certified in accordance with Florida Statutes.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid driver's license as a condition of employment.

The position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and under stressful conditions.
