Department Overview:
The Infrastructure and Networking Innovation Center (L110) at MITRE is in search of a Division Operations Senior (DOS). This center is at the forefront of technical excellence in areas such as enterprise networking, cellular networking (5G/xG), tactical networking, cloud solutions, and IT service management for both our direct sponsors and the broader science & technology community. The DOS will serve as a strategic ally to the Managing Director, collaborating closely with the Division Chief Engineer, Department Managers, and MITRE Labs Operations to effectively implement the L110 strategy and achieve significant outcomes across the organization. The DOS will oversee the efficient execution of operational functions within the division and monitor engagement with the innovation center.
It is anticipated that the DOS will dedicate at least 50% of their time to direct project work within L110's initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Managing Director to formulate and implement the division strategy, manage L110's work programs, and oversee financial and operational activities.
- Partner closely with the Managing Director on initiatives at the division, center, and sector levels.
- Identify collaborative opportunities within MITRE Labs and the FFRDCs to foster shared outcomes for enhanced impact.
- Promote and support the development of an inclusive work environment within L110.
- Lead and coordinate the summer intern program across various departments within L110.
- Manage the daily business operations of the Division, working alongside Division and Department leadership, project leads, and financial managers.
- Serve as the primary contact for communications, including the preparation of quarterly highlights and impact stories.
- Engage with key partners to assist the Managing Director in building and maintaining relationships, and in shaping the work staff in L110 support.
Basic Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with applicable experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
- At least two years of experience in project or personnel leadership.
- Experience working with the Federal Government.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong understanding of both technical and business aspects.
- Demonstrated professionalism when interacting with senior leadership at MITRE and sponsor organizations.
- Possess an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Strong knowledge in at least one of L110's technical domains, including networking engineering, security, cloud solutions, wireless communications, or IT service management.
- This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in budgeting and staffing processes.
- Understanding of FFRDC operations.
- Degree in technical management.
