The Technical Ceramics division of Morgan Advanced Materials specializes in engineering high-performance functional and structural ceramic materials, components, and sub-assemblies tailored to meet specific technical challenges faced by our clients.

Key Metrics: Revenue of 1,112m, approximately 8,500 employees, operations in over 30 countries, and a diverse global customer base. We are a publicly traded company headquartered in the UK and listed on the London Stock Exchange as a member of the FTSE 250 Index.

Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking a seasoned ceramic engineer or materials scientist to join our team, focusing on the development and implementation of material systems and processes that will reinforce our leadership in the ceramic core manufacturing sector.

Primary Duties:

  • Assist in defining and planning technology development initiatives aligned with our strategic roadmap.
  • Develop material and processing solutions to fulfill manufacturing and customer requirements.
  • Design, organize, and execute material development, production, and processing trials across laboratory, pilot, and production scales.
  • Evaluate, analyze, and interpret development outcomes, adjusting project activities to achieve desired results within an optimized timeframe.
  • Apply statistical process control methodologies.
  • Oversee the work of junior engineers and technicians.
  • Collaborate with operations, sales, and technology teams to ensure effective execution of objectives.
  • Engage with suppliers and customers as necessary.
  • Prepare technical reports at the conclusion of each project, providing regular updates throughout the development process.
  • Assist in specifying and selecting equipment and materials related to ceramics processing.
  • Promote and uphold the company's commitment to the highest standards of health and safety, ensuring compliance with all policies during daily operations.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Ceramics, Material Science, or a related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of experience; Ph.D. preferred.
  • Experience in the manufacturing of ceramic components.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to the company's progress.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident alien.
  • Authorization to work permanently in the United States is required.
  • Knowledge of material testing and micro-structural analysis.
  • Strong understanding of statistical methodologies.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and all personnel.
  • Capacity to work independently and under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel, including potential international travel.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary, multicultural teams.
  • Familiarity with Design of Experiments and Six Sigma methodologies is preferred.
