Position Overview

Our nursing professionals primarily focus on breast surgery patients, delivering essential patient education, triage, and symptom management. They may also extend their expertise to support other specialties, including gynecology.

Job Details

LOCATION: Lancaster, PA

HOURS: Full Time (40 hours per week), Monday to Friday (8am-4:30pm).

SIGN ON BONUS: Up to $15,000, prorated based on FTE with a two-year commitment. Eligibility criteria apply, including a minimum of 15 months of RN experience for external applicants.

ROLE SUMMARY: The Clinical Nurse 2 Colleague is an RN who acts as a full partner within the healthcare team, consistently demonstrating safe practices aligned with the standards set by the American Nurses Association. This role encompasses accountability and responsibility for patient care, adhering to the organizational professional practice model.

The Clinical Nurse 2 Colleague possesses the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitude to meet the standards for competent professional nursing practice. This position independently delivers patient care through the nursing process while accepting accountability for the care of assigned patients, spanning from infancy to the elderly.

The Clinical Nurse 2 Colleague actively engages with the interprofessional healthcare team to facilitate coordinated care across the continuum. The nurse emphasizes expanding their knowledge and skills to provide individualized care, considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, safety, and age-appropriate factors for each patient.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following duties:
  • Integrate the mission, vision, and values of Lancaster General Health into patient care planning.
  • Function as both an independent and interdependent member of the healthcare team as defined in the unit-based Plan for Provision of Care.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, focusing on physiological, psychological, and cognitive functions. Evaluate progress toward outcomes and adapt care plans accordingly.
  • Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues and formulate culturally and ethically sensitive care plans.
  • Implement care knowledgeably and coordinate patient care across various disciplines.
  • Provide leadership by effectively communicating care standards and supporting team members.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the values of privacy, quality, respect, service, and teamwork.
  • Assign, delegate, and supervise other staff, ensuring continuity of care and achievement of established outcomes.
  • Educate patients on healthy practices and treatment options.
  • Continuously enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices, utilizing technology as appropriate.
  • Consider safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in nursing service delivery.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are secondary to the primary responsibilities:
  • Manage rapidly changing situations by coordinating appropriate health team members and resources.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance continuity in nurse-patient relationships and minimize redundancies.
  • Complete mandatory education and training, including age-specific needs and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain a safe working environment through compliance with evidence-based practice policies.
  • Project pride in work through interactions with staff, patients, and colleagues.
  • Engage in formal and independent learning activities to develop clinical and professional skills.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to peers and subordinates to enhance the professional practice environment.
  • Participate in the employee performance process for peers and subordinates.
  • Fulfill on-call responsibilities as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM REQUIRED:
  • Current RN licensure issued by the PA Board of Nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher nursing degree is required.
  • Completion of the Nurse Residency Program or over 15 months of practice.
  • CPR Certification from the American Heart Association required within 30 days of hire.
  • Good standing as a healthcare provider with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • As outlined in the unit-based Plan for Provision of Care.
