About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate 4th Grade Teacher to join our team at East Academy in Cleveland, Ohio. As a 4th Grade Teacher, you will be responsible for providing a superior education for all students, creating a positive classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development.

About the Team

East Academy is a public charter school serving EK-8th grade students in the South Collinwood community. Our school benefits from a wide array of specialty subjects, extracurriculars, and sports. Our experienced administration and caring teachers create a positive school culture. We participate in community partnerships with the Cleveland Food Bank and Cleveland Cavaliers.

About the Opportunity:

The responsibilities of the 4th Grade Teacher include:

  • Preparing and delivering lesson plans with the ability to modify accordingly during the school year
  • Differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all students
  • Maintaining accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
  • Utilizing research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction
  • Managing student behavior in the classroom
  • Creating a positive classroom environment for students to learn in
  • Utilizing school-approved curricula that reflects the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students
  • Implementing school-wide culture expectations and norms
  • Communicating and meeting with families regarding the academic and social-emotional growth of their child
  • Incorporating technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning
  • Participating in the planning and implementation of non-instructional activities, as needed
  • Collaborating and communicating effectively with colleagues
  • Performing other duties as assigned

About You:

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • An active and current state of Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area
  • A Bachelor's degree in education or a related field
  • A high level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to properly manage confidential information
  • The ability to supervise students of various ages in different school settings
  • The ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks
  • Experience working within an urban environment
