Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Engineering to join our team at Crescent Hotels & Resorts. This key role will assist the Director of Engineering in overseeing the overall responsibility for building and property mechanical operations, including plant, HVAC, and refrigeration, kitchen equipment, laundry, guest, and associate satisfaction, and financial performance of the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Function as a strategic leader of the Resort Engineering Department, developing and implementing effective planned preventive maintenance systems for the entire resort buildings, grounds, and utility systems.
  • Operations Management: Oversee the basic overall operations of the Engineering department, including various facility operations, construction, and utilities.
  • Employee Development: Responsible for the training and development of a skilled workforce, scheduling workload to efficiently and economically meet work responsibilities and for training of employees.
  • Communication and Coordination: Establish and maintain effective means of receipt and dispatch of maintenance and service calls, coordinate department trades and functions to accomplish emergency and routine work activities.
  • Supervision and Management: Supervise employees in accordance with State, Federal, and Resort policies, including recruitment, discipline, performance evaluation, and termination.
  • Inventory Control and Maintenance: Manage requisition, inventory control, and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
  • Liaison and Compliance: Act as liaison with federal, state, and local agencies, companies, and contractors, and members of the resort community on all technical matters affecting Engineering, ensuring compliance with all city, state, and federal regulations concerning environmental protection, fire, and electrical underwriter codes, safety, boiler, and pressure vessel codes, and other codes and regulations.
  • Energy Conservation: Develop and implement an effective energy conservation program to meet consumption reduction goals established by federal, state, and local agencies, working closely with Directors and management staff to minimize impact on members and guest activities.
  • Budgeting and Planning: Responsible for budgetary planning and control of expenditures, collecting necessary technical data, and preparing justifications to support budget approval for energy conservation measures, deferred maintenance items, special improvements, and complete facility renovation or upgrading.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as an Engineering Manager in a full-service resort or city hotel, including numerous amenities.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to deal tactfully and professionally with members, guests, staff, and public.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, knowledge of management techniques, including record keeping, reporting, budgeting, inventory control, and cost, personnel, and performance analysis.
  • Physical and Mental Demands: Must have the physical strength, stamina, and agility to perform the assigned duties, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and maintain a clean, safe, and environmentally responsible work environment.
