Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician Associate to join our team at Geisinger Medical Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for ensuring the preparation, care, sterilization, and transportation of medical and surgical instruments, packs, supplies, and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and sterilize medical and surgical instruments, packs, supplies, and equipment
  • Collect and sort used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for decontamination
  • Manually clean supplies of contaminants, remove waste matter, and operate and maintain decontamination equipment
  • Prepare and pack decontaminated supplies for sterilization
  • Monitor and operate sterilization equipment
  • Examine supplies meticulously to ensure they are properly cleaned and sanitized
  • Test and report any issues or problems with the sterilization equipment
  • Sterilize, prepare, wrap, and organize equipment into instrument trays for use during medical procedures
  • Prepare and deliver all necessary equipment and instruments for surgeries, examinations, medical procedures, and medical carts
  • Maintain records of sterilization procedures, sterilized items, equipment maintenance, and supplies
  • Control the inventory, reorder supplies, and check expiration dates
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
  • Certified Sterile Processing Technician within 18 months - Healthcare Sterilization Association (HSA) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
