Job Summary

South Shore Health is seeking a skilled RN Nursing Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our Primary Care department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the provision of quality patient care, managing staff, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the daily operations of the department, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Participate in the nursing process to ensure the provision of quality patient care.
  • Delegate staff assignments appropriately and maintain a master work schedule.
  • Order supplies and maintain departmental inventory, ensuring all equipment is used properly and adequately maintained.
  • Resolve patient issues and report grievances to Manager and Providers.
  • Promote a culture of safety by assisting staff to report incidents in the web-based safety reporting system.
  • Ensure quality control through established specific measures.
  • Participate in the assessment of staffing needs and complete weekly time sheets.
  • Assist in the selection and hiring of staff, oversee orientation, and develop staff educational needs and plans.
  • Coordinate and participate in the training and evaluation of staff.
  • Communicate changes and quality improvements with staff through daily huddles, departmental meetings, and electronic communication.
  • Work collaboratively with Operations Manager and Nurse Manager to address personnel problems and communicate effectively with other Managers and Supervisors.
  • Provide at-the-elbow support to nurses and medical assistants, serving as a subject matter expert in clinical duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting with other departments at other locations.

Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with a BSN required.
  • Four or more years of previous nursing experience, with two years of acute care experience preferred.
  • Experience in an ambulatory environment required, with past supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership experience required.
  • Pediatrics experience highly desirable.
  • Current MA State RN license required, with BLS - Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to treat patients and staff respectfully, with patience and compassion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Computer proficiency required, with the ability to efficiently use the electronic medical record, patient registration/billing system, e-mail, and other computer software as required.
