POSITION SUMMARY:


The Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) in the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP) is a pivotal role for individuals who meet the RN CAP 2 criteria or have progressed from RN CAP 1. This position is responsible for delivering and coordinating high-quality patient care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for a designated group of patients.

This role may involve delegating appropriate tasks to direct patient care staff, which may include RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians.

As a vital member of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) healthcare team, the RN actively engages in decision-making, educational initiatives, leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts aimed at enhancing patient care outcomes and operational efficiency.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


All responsibilities are to be executed in alignment with Fresenius Kidney Care policies, nursing standards, and relevant regulations.


Under the supervision of the Team Leader, the RN will perform essential functions, supported by guidance from Clinical Educators or in collaboration with fellow Registered Nurses.


Conduct systematic collection and analysis of patient data before, during, and after hemodialysis treatments for assigned patients, documenting findings in the medical record, adjusting treatment plans as necessary, and notifying the appropriate team members as needed.

Assess and document the educational needs of patients and their families to provide ongoing education regarding treatment options.


Collaborate with direct and ancillary patient care staff to ensure the safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy.

Administer prescribed medications in accordance with established protocols and document medical justification and effectiveness.

Initiate or assist with emergency response measures as required.


Act as a resource, leader, coach, and mentor for both new and existing staff, exemplifying professional behavior and work ethics.

Ensure compliance with laboratory collection, processing, and shipping procedures, rescheduling any missed or inadequate collections.


Identify expected patient outcomes, document progress, and update nursing assessments and care plans in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team.

Ensure patients are informed about transplant and treatment modality options.

Participate in educational and quality improvement initiatives as directed by supervisory staff.

May serve as a mentor for new employees.

Complete CAP requirements to maintain or advance within the program.

Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

This position involves direct patient care, requiring heavy lifting, patient mobility assistance, and prolonged periods of standing. Equipment aids and coworkers may provide assistance as needed.

Occasional movement of equipment weighing up to 200 lbs. and lifting of chemical and water solutions up to 30 lbs. may be required.

The work environment is typical of a healthcare facility, with controlled air temperature and moderate noise levels.

Exposure to infectious and contagious diseases/materials is possible.

Daily tasks include desk work, computer use, and interaction with patients and healthcare staff.

Travel to training sites or other facilities may be necessary.


May be required to perform essential functions in other locations with similar physical demands and working conditions.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversight of Patient Care Technicians, LVN/LPNs, and RNs as a Team Leader or designated Nurse in Charge, contingent upon meeting all training and experience requirements.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.

Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification.

Must fulfill practice requirements in the state of employment.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
Entry-level position for RNs with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Nephrology Nursing.


The compensation for this position will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, including education, work experience, skills, and competencies.


HOURLY RATE:
$62.00
