Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a crucial role in providing direct care and support to individuals with disabilities, assisting them in achieving their goals and living independently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist program participants in traveling to appointments, recreational activities, or community outings
  • Provide emotional support, companionship, and encouragement to individuals with disabilities
  • Facilitate self-help and other groups as needed
  • Keep accurate and detailed documentation
  • Assist clients in developing and maintaining independent living skills, such as budgeting, shopping, and cooking
  • Encourage and support recreational activities, employment, and education
  • Develop and facilitate self-help groups or run dual recovery support groups
  • Serve as a mentor to individuals who need additional emotional support or encouragement
  • Connect individuals with community resources, such as food banks and meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License
  • No experience necessary, but a minimum of 6 months of direct support experience is preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate respect and cultural awareness during interactions with program participants
  • Great motivator with an outgoing and positive personality
  • Ability to work directly with disabled individuals
Work Environment

Typical office environment, movement through the grounds, site or installation, travel between locations, and occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.

While performing this job, the incumbent will have to sit, stand, and walk for most of the shift.
