Position Overview:

We are seeking an economist to enhance our global research team. The selected candidate will be based in New York and will specialize in economic analysis and regional assessments for Latin America across various asset classes. Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering comprehensive macroeconomic insights on economic, political, and structural developments in the relevant countries to inform the firm's overarching perspective for the region.
  • Employing quantitative methodologies to project essential economic indicators, evaluate the business cycle, and assess central banks' responses. Analyzing the interconnections between the countries under review and the global economy.
  • Engaging with portfolio managers to enrich the investment process by identifying, articulating, and executing investment themes and actionable market insights.
  • Participating in global investment team discussions, providing detailed presentations on macroeconomic trends and country-specific analyses.
  • Collaborating actively with colleagues both locally and from our international offices.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A robust background in macroeconomics with a minimum of 5 years of experience focusing on Latin American markets, gained at a leading investment bank, buy-side firm, or an international financial institution (e.g., IMF, central bank, or finance ministry).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in identifying and conveying pertinent information to portfolio managers to facilitate constructive discussions.
  • Strong quantitative skills with a solid understanding of statistics and familiarity with statistical software.
  • Adeptness in grasping and assimilating new concepts and topics.
  • A self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic.

Compensation:

The compensation package is competitive and will be determined based on skills, experience, and location.
