Job Summary

Cencora is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Staff Pharmacist to join our team at Reading Hospital Retail Pharmacies. As a Staff Pharmacist, you will be responsible for evaluating, preparing, and dispensing medications, providing excellent customer service and clinical care, and interacting closely with patients to answer their questions and concerns regarding their medication therapy.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, prepare, and dispense medications, verifying prescribed medications according to professional standards, facility procedures, and state and federal legal requirements.
  • Provide excellent customer service and clinical care, interacting closely with patients to answer their questions and concerns regarding their medication therapy.
  • Review and evaluate patient plans of care for therapeutic appropriateness, consulting with prescribers and other medical staff as needed.
  • Participate in achieving business goals and metrics for the ambulatory pharmacy, including assisting in marketing events and promotions.
  • Assist with managing all functions of pharmacy technicians, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Monitor the overall performance of pharmacy staff members to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies, practices, and approved pharmaceutical dispensing processes.
  • Make recommendations to managers regarding changes to improve operating procedures or to improve and facilitate patient care.
  • Assist in maintaining and executing all established procedures concerning quality improvement, quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and record keeping.
  • Submit, review, and handle all adjudicated prescription claims to ensure appropriateness of reimbursement, co-pay, and related financials, and follow up on claims deemed inappropriate.
  • Promptly and appropriately respond to patient inquiries, requests, and issues, following through on closing any outstanding patient concerns to provide a superior level of customer care.
  • Provide consultation on pharmacy and therapeutic matters to various levels of organizational personnel.
  • Supervise activities relative to patient profiles and contacts, ensuring they are updated as needed for insurance verification and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and in-service training for pharmacy technicians.
  • Operate the point-of-sale system.
  • Supervise and manage robotic dispensing systems to ensure accurate and efficient medication dispensing.
  • Monitor and manage inventory within the automated system, ensuring proper stock levels and correct medication storage.
  • Assist with pick, pack, and ship procedures as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree or Pharm D degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • Current, unrestricted pharmacist license through the appropriate state board of pharmacy.
  • Broad training and/or experience in the fields of business administration, sales, marketing, information technology, and retail/ambulatory pharmacy.
  • Normally requires zero (1) to three (3) years of directly related and progressively responsible retail/ambulatory care pharmacy experience.
