The Retreat is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing no-fee counseling, legal services, shelter, and education programs to individuals experiencing abuse or sexual assault.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Grants Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing grant-related finances, preparing budgets, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management
    • Prepare and manage grant-related budgets, including vouchers, draw downs, and reports.
    • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and cash management.
  • Grant Administration
    • Prepare and process grant-related vouchers, including preparing voucher packets, posting bills, and reconciling contract expenses.
    • Track grant spend downs and ensure reporting requirements are met.
    • Communicate with program staff to ensure alignment of program and financial objectives.
  • Accounting and Compliance
    • Supervise accounting staff and oversee payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and thrift store accounting operations.
    • Manage special projects and lead project teams.
    • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and laws.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 3+ years of experience in non-profit fund accounting.
  • Previous experience with grant budgets and requirements.
  • DOJ Financial Management Certification.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and formula-based Excel spreadsheets.
  • Experience with accounting software, such as Fund EZ, and strong data processing skills.
  • Solid understanding of accounting processes, knowledge of GAAP, and financial and cash management.
  • Well-organized with project management and problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize standard workload.
  • Valid NYS Driver's license.
