We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Porter - West 129th Street. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing a range of services and supervision to residents of our West 129th Street Home, enabling them to live as safely and independently as possible.
Key Responsibilities- Routine Maintenance:
- Perform regular maintenance tasks, including mopping, vacuuming, cleaning walls, handrails, surfaces, doors, and collecting garbage in common areas, mezzanine offices, stairwells, elevator lobby, and laundry on the basement level.
- Ensure the lobby, common areas of the mezzanine, and sidewalks are clean and free of hazards.
- Maintain cleaning checklists.
- Maintenance and Repairs:
- Assist the super in preparing vacant resident rooms for move-ins.
- Assist in painting and light repairs as directed.
- Participate in special projects, such as stripping and waxing floors.
- Deliveries and Supplies:
- Assist in receiving food and supplies, including checking in deliveries and implementing prompt and safe storage of perishables.
- Maintain inventory of supplies.
- Assist with distribution of supplies.
- Preferred: Minimum of 1 year experience working with dependent persons.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Able to work in a multi-cultural environment, with staff and residents.
- Emotionally, mentally, and physically able to perform job responsibilities.
- Able to speak, read, and write English (as required by DSS regulation).
