Position Overview:
We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a Clinical Specialist in Physical Therapy, focusing on Vestibular (neurology). The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing patient care coordination, educational programs, and research activities within a specialized area of Physical Therapy practice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with staff and management on Performance Improvement and clinical research initiatives to enhance departmental effectiveness.
  • Assist in establishing goals, standards, and evaluation criteria for Performance Improvement Projects.
  • Gather data and solicit staff feedback to recommend revisions in clinical practice and departmental operations.
  • Propose ideas, methodologies, and rationales for research projects, actively participating in data collection and project monitoring.
  • Prepare grant proposals and contribute to publications or presentations at clinical conferences.
  • Identify and recommend new equipment to support program growth and development.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and unit operations as needed.
  • Support Case Management responsibilities related to the Physical Therapy care plan for clients.
  • Work collaboratively with unit team members.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Maintain proficiency in skills necessary for treating the assigned patient population.
  • Exhibit leadership in developing specialized clinical expertise, fostering communication, and promoting teamwork.
  • Provide guidance and support to colleagues as needed.
  • Coordinate Physical Therapy patient care for both inpatient and outpatient services in the area of expertise.
  • Educate and train staff in specialized areas to enhance departmental clinical capabilities.
  • Assist in evaluating and developing treatment plans for patients.
  • Implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Facilitate coordination of patient care throughout the continuum.
  • Develop educational materials to improve patient care quality, such as pamphlets and home programs, in collaboration with team members.
  • Prepare and participate in educational sessions for patients, families, students, and house staff.
  • Engage in lectures, seminars, and workshops offered by the Medical Center and other organizations.


Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a valid NYS Physical Therapy License with current registration. A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy is required, along with a minimum of three years of experience as a licensed Physical Therapist with increasing responsibilities in a specific clinical area. Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

BLS certification (issued by the American Heart Association) or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification is required upon entry into the position.


Required Licenses:
Phys Thrpst License-NYS

Preferred Qualifications:
A Master's Degree in Physical Therapy or a related field is preferred. Candidates with a minimum of five years of clinical experience and demonstrated leadership skills will be favored.

APTA Clinical Specialist Certification in the area of expertise is also preferred.

The salary range for this role is $81,000 to $135,541.73 annually. Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as experience, specialty, education, and hospital needs.
