About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Modeling and Simulation Engineer II to join our team at RTX. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing mission simulations, virtual prototypes, and system emulators that represent a variety of mission technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and integrate live-virtual-constructive (LVC) simulations with other simulations, custom software, commercial-off-the-shelf software (COTS), government furnished models, hardware, and user interfaces.
  • Develop and integrate new capabilities into existing simulation models.
  • Run simulation environments and generate analysis data for evaluation.
  • Work with a team lead to document design approaches and implement them.
  • Work with a team lead to define and execute analysis plans.
  • Participate in technical reviews with internal and external customers.
What You Will Learn
  • You will be exposed to a variety of mission systems development efforts under the supervision and guidance of subject matter experts.
  • You will learn how to apply LVC concepts to develop and test mission systems under real-world conditions.
Qualifications
  • Typically requires a BS Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related STEM Degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant engineering work experience.
  • Experience with software with natively compiled languages (e.g.: C/C++), experience with object-oriented programming design (OOP / OOD), experience with integrating 3rd party software libraries and APIs into software tools.
  • Experience using scripting languages (e.g.: Python, Perl) to automate tasks, experience with understanding of configuration management tools (GIT, Subversion) and practices.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related STEM degree.
  • Experience with integrating distributed Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) simulation components, experience with IEEE 1278 DIS, IEEE 1516 HLA, and/or TENA.
  • Experience with 2D and 3D software rendering, including: texturing, shaders, OpenGL, Open Scene Graph, experience with gaming engines or related technologies, including: Unreal / Unity / Creator / 3DS Max, 3D terrain and object modeling, experience with OS fundamentals (Shared Mem, Multi-Threaded, etc.).
  • Experience developing software in Windows and Linux Environments, experience with computer network fundamentals, experience with Agile Development Lifecycles.
  • Experience with simulation tools and visualization environments, including: SIMDIS, AFSIM, Simulink, STK, Mak Image Generation systems, experience with scientific computing software (e.g.: MATLAB) to evaluate analysis data.
