Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician II will perform technical tasks within the pharmacy department under the general supervision of a pharmacist. Responsibilities may include medication preparation, compounding, dispensing, inventory control, unit dose prepackaging, and basic computer system operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to competently work in general and some specialty areas of pharmacy practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fills and delivers/dispenses medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician scope of practice to the staff pharmacist or supervisor as needed.
  • Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
  • Post High School Diploma or Certificate Program completion of a pharmacy technician training program, preferred.
  • 1-3 years At least one year of pharmacy technician in a healthcare or retail setting Required.

Licenses
  • CPHT-Certified Pharmacy Technician - PTCB - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Required.
  • PHAT-Licensed Pharmacy Technician - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of basic pharmacy practices and procedures.
  • Mathematical computation skills.
  • Organization and communication skills.
  • Good typing, keyboarding and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to work independently within pharmacy scope of practice.
  • Knowledge of prescription processing and third-party billing, if applicable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, preferred.
